The RAAF Base Townsville Multi Role Helicopter Facilities Package 2 project includes the renovation and construction of new infrastructure and buildings in the 5th Aviation Regiment precinct. The purpose for this infrastructure is to support the maintenance and storage of aircraft, the training of Defence personnel and ancillary support services.

Scope includes extension and refurbishment of the Technical Support Troop facility, upgrade of ALSE workshop, a new store building and modifications to squadron shelters, fitout of Mission Planning Facility and preparation of site for new Simulator building. The works also include upgrade of HV ring main serving 5 Aviation Regiment.

With suspected acid sulphate soils present within the 5th Aviation Regiment precinct, which is a highly modified built environment that was constructed on land reclaimed from what was once a low lying and flood prone area on RAAF Base Townsville. The Baulderstone Team in consultation with the Client have an agreed on methodology for the on-site testing of suspect acid sulphate soils, to ensure minimal costs are expended, whilst ensuring the potential risk is addressed.

The facilities are required to be completed over 4 stages
