Billabong Sanctuary
This is a fantastic animal sanctuary with Kangaroo’s and bird life roaming free and engaging the patrons. There are the usual heart stopping croc shows and animal feeding as well as a pool and free BBQ’s.

Children: Children are welcome and activities for them include feeding the native animals.
Disabled: Access to buildings via ramps. Tracks are natural pathways all on flat ground.
Entity Facilities
Billabong Sanctuary has a cafe on site which has light meals such as fish and chips, sandwiches, pies and pizza and beverages such as tea and coffee, beer and soft drinks.
Hotel Pick-up
Pick up from city accommodation and Magnetic Island Ferry Terminal at both 9.15 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. Return at 2.00 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. Costs apply.
How to get There
Billabong Sanctuary is located on Highway One – Bruce Highway, 17 kilometres south of Townsville. Visitors heading south to Airlie Beach from Townsville usually arrive around 9.00 a.m., stay for all morning wildlife talks and feeding then drive for three hours to Whitsundays. Visitors heading north from Airlie Beach usually arrive at Billabong Sanctuary around noon, participate in all of the afternoon talks and feeding, then take the twenty minute drive from the Billabong to Townsville. Daily tours to Billabong Sanctuary with pick up from Townsville accommodation offer morning, afternoon or full day tours.
